Introduction

The Institute of Security and Strategic Studies (ISSS), a Nigerian institution established in 2014, is committed to advancing security and strategic education for professionals. Following the success of the previous Advanced Intelligence Analysis virtual training, which achieved a 4.7/5 overall rating, a 4.8/5 for skill relevance, and unanimous recommendations from participants, ISSS proposes an enhanced training program. This initiative targets executives in security and intelligence, offering both virtual and physical delivery options to maximize accessibility and impact. The program integrates new modules on Operational Security, Human Resource Management in Intelligence, and SWOT Analysis to address evolving needs, equipping participants with cutting-edge skills for strategic decision-making.

  • Systems & Tools: Data fusion, GEOINT, analytic tools. Practical: Demo of OSINT tool (e.g., SpiderFoot); hands-on exploration.
  • Weekend 2: Module 2 - Operating Intelligence Analysis Systems
  • Real-Time Analysis: Real-time operations, cyber threats. Practical: Mock cyber threat dashboard; live response discussion.
  • Collaboration & Workflow: Collaborative platforms, automation. Practical: Breakout rooms for mock case resolution; report back.
  • Security & HUMINT: Data security, HUMINT overview. Practical: Chat-based HUMINT role-play; security impact discussion.
  • Weekend 3: Module 3 - Strategic Intelligence Analysis
  • Forecasting & Competition: Strategic forecasting, competitive intelligence. Practical: Trend chart analysis; predict next steps.
  • Global Analysis & SWOT Analysis: Geopolitical threats, social/economic factors, SWOT analysis (new). Practical: Map annotation and SWOT exercise; discussion.
  • Predictive Support: Predictive techniques, decision-maker support. Practical: Mock briefing simulation; pitch analysis.
  • Weekend 4: Module 4 - Inter-Agency Collaboration
  • Agency Cooperation: Interagency sharing, fusion centres. Practical: Video case study; Q&A.
  • Teams & Alliances: Cross-functional teams, international partnerships. Practical: Breakout exercise for mock alliance roles; present findings.
  • Crisis, Ethics & Human Resource Management: Crisis response, ethical collaboration, HR management in intelligence (new). Practical: Crisis simulation via polls; discuss HR/ethical choices.
  • Weekend 5: Module 5 - Emerging Trends in Intelligence Analysis
  • AI & Data: AI, machine learning, big data. Practical: Demo AI analysis (e.g., sentiment analysis); discuss results.
  • Tech Innovations: Visualization, AR, digital forensics. Practical: Visualization tool demo (e.g., Tableau); explore mock data.
  • Future Challenges: Disinformation countermeasures, future of analysis. Practical: Analyse mock disinformation post; brainstorm solutions.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY
  • Highly interactive online classes with peer-to-peer learning.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
  • The training spans 5 weekends (15 sessions), with each session lasting 2.5 hours (2 hours lecture + 30 minutes interactive/Q&A). Sessions are scheduled on Fridays (evening), Saturdays (morning), and Sundays (evening). Delivery options include:
  • Virtual: Via Zoom or Microsoft Teams, with interactive elements like polls, breakout rooms, and live demos.
  • Physical: In-person sessions at ISSS facilities or partner venues, featuring hands-on workshops and networking opportunities.
  • Three resource persons (RPs), assigned by expertise, will deliver content to executives in security and intelligence. Practical illustrations include pre-recorded videos, live tool demos, simulations, and pre-shared resources to ensure engagement and applicability.
